The third project meeting, as planned, was held in Ostroleka (18-21.10.2024) and hosted by OTN. Similarly to the previous meetings, the partners were able to learn about the experience, including:
– learning about activities in the Polish education market aimed at providing specialists in the context of the digital and energy transition, including in the professions of IT and electrical engineering,
– promotion and enhancement of attractiveness of VET education at ISCED 3-4 level in the context of EU policy needs,
– to learn about good practices in orienting and preparing cooperating companies for the digital and energy transition,
– learning how to plan the needs in VET education in Poland in the professions of IT and electrical engineering as part of cross-sectoral cooperation, increasing the link between the education and employment phase,
– practice in the inclusion of people with fewer opportunities.
An important element of the meeting was getting to know each other (both potential and interpersonal) as a basis for planning and developing joint ventures that would lead to improvements and new approaches in VET and inclusivity.
The partners gained an overview of VET-related solutions on an international level using the examples of Poland, Germany and Greece.
The partners’ experts developed a preliminary version of the final result of the intellectual work, evaluated it and acknowledged its completeness from the point of view of the project’s
content and objectives.
The meeting was attended by:
– on the part of OTN (PL): Ireneusz Żuchowski, Igor Skrodzki and Cezary Pilcicki
– from the FAV (DE): Evmorfia Arkani, Theodora Patsona, Eleni Tsaireli
– on the FAV side: Heiko Schuler, Sylwia Bertz, Katerina Leistner.
The final study entitled ‘Attractiveness of the INFORMATIC and ELECTRIC professions of the future and relevance of VET education in the context of EU challenges – A study with conclusions and recommendations for the adaptation and integration of learned experiences, solutions and good practices on the examples of Germany, Greece and Poland’ will soon be made available as an open educational resource.
Key discussions focused on the following outcomes:
- Exchange of Innovative Practices: Partners shared successful strategies for making IT and electrical engineering more appealing career choices and enhancing cross-sector cooperation in VET.
- Strengthening VET-Education-Employment Connections: The consortium discussed methods to better align educational curricula with labor market needs, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the workforce.
- Inclusion of People with Fewer Opportunities: The project also emphasized ensuring that individuals from underrepresented groups are given access to training and employment opportunities in these growing fields.
During the meeting programme, a discussion arose on the importance of professions and VET education in Greece. The partners discussed the specificities of VET education systems and approaches in the partner countries. They also exchanged insights on the current issues in the partner countries regarding VET education, its popularity among young people, and the need to promote the IT and electrical professions given the need to realise the digital and energy transformation.
At the end of the meeting, the partners shared their comments on the solutions they had learned and how they could be used and developed in their practice. The partners also developed a preliminary version of the result of the intellectual work, which EKPA experts will still develop.
The partners agreed that the third meeting in Ostroleka will occur between 18-21.10.2024. OTN will host the meeting.
The meeting allowed the partners to get to know each other, establish relationships, and reignite further joint activities.
