EmpowerHer: Enhancing Refugee Women’s Skills for the Hospitality Sector
EmpowerHer Project Kicks Off with an Energizing Meeting in Bochum, Germany
On October 3rd and 4th, 2023, the EmpowerHer project had its official Kick-off Meeting in Bochum, Germany, bringing together a consortium of partners from three countries: Germany, Greece, and Spain. The meeting took place in a highly collaborative atmosphere as representatives from all partner organizations convened to discuss the project’s core goals and upcoming activities.
One of the main highlights of the meeting was the introduction of the project’s concept and objectives, focused on empowering refugee women by providing them with skills tailored for the hospitality sector. The partners explored in detail the project’s expected outputs, such as the Training Toolkit for Professionals, the Profession-Specific Language Training Curriculum, and the Peer-to-Peer Mentorship Model.
Each partner’s roles and responsibilities were clarified, and the management plan was discussed extensively. The lead partner also introduced a dedicated project management tool, which will streamline communication and coordination across all countries involved.
Key discussions also focused on the dissemination activities, with plans for how the project will be promoted across the participating countries. These efforts will be spearheaded by [name of lead dissemination partner]. In addition, a strategy for Quality Assurance and Evaluation was presented by [name of quality partner], ensuring that the project remains on track with its objectives and meets its quality standards. Financial matters and bilateral agreements were also reviewed, ensuring a clear understanding of the project’s budget and legal framework.
The partners also reviewed the timeline for the project’s first major output: the Training Toolkit, which is already underway. This toolkit will be adapted to the needs of refugee women, focusing on practical skills for hospitality sector employment in each partner country.
The EmpowerHer team looks forward to continuing this positive momentum and working together to make a meaningful impact on the lives of refugee women across Europe.
